TAI CHI QIGONG THERAPIST PROGRAMME

A programme leading to the Taiji Qigong Therapist Certificate. The programme focuses on health and regeneration, based on the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the experiential principles and practices of Qigong.

The comprehensive nature of the programme means that there is no prior knowledge is required of Traditional Chinese Medicine or Daoist Energetics, the programme is open to anyone with an interest in healing.

You will learn the fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Daoist Energetics, and from the outset of the programme you will be taught how to manage the process of getting the best out of your own energetic system. In healing yourself you become equipped to heal others

Course Format


The Programme is taught over 16 months.  The next programme starts in September 2010. Each course intake is limited to 20 students.

Teaching takes place in seminars of two and three days in length, once a month in Cumbria. For calendar dates for 2010 see below.

Between courses participants will be given home study which will include written work and reading as well as experiential practice, and will be expected to develop a practice routine and produce a log of progress.

Application


Formal qualifications are not required however the intent to study is essential. Each applicant is assessed and interviewed on a personal basis. Please contact us to request your application from, available by email or by post.

Aim


The aim of the programme is to provide you with the knowledge and confidence with which to teach others how to stay healthy and to aid the therapeutic healing process in yourself and others.

Objectives


At the end of the course you will have a sound understanding of the theory and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in an holistic context.

This means:

  • Theoretical knowledge acquired through study and research
  • Practical awareness of the healing powers of Taiji Qigong acquired through training and practice
  • Practical diagnostic and application techniques for facilitating healing in yourself and others.

Programme Modules


a. Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory

This module gives comprehensive coverage of the foundation principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and relates those principles to the process of Qigong Therapeutic Healing.

b. Essential Principles of Taiji Qigong Healing

This module covers Taiji Qigong theory and practical Daoist concepts of energy cultivation. Participants will study Posture, Breath and Intention (Yi), and their relationship to practical self healing systems which tonify, purge, and circulate energy through the body. Here the focus is on the concept of 'healer heal thyself', using the correct application of Taiji Qigong theory and practice to strengthen our external and internal selves.

c.Identification and Treatment of Energetic Imbalances

This module allows students to become proficient in the principles and practice of energetic diagnosis and treatment techniques for application with patients/clients.

d. Healing Techniques of Taiji Qigong

This module studies various illnesses and imbalances from a Traditional Chinese Medicine and Daoist Energetic perspective, and how as a therapist you would set about using your knowledge to aid the healing process. Participants will also spend some time looking at the relationship to health of diet and lifestyle.

Assessment


Assessment will be based on the following components:

  • Regular short written reviews on manageable sections of theory
  • Qigong practice diary
  • Individual assessment of foundation posture work
  • Regular individual therapeutic reviews
  • Case studies of work with clients.


Participants will graduate as a Therapist on completion of all elements of the modules outlined above, and will then receive the relevant certification and insurance.

Programme Fees


The fees are £2800, and will cover all teaching, assessment and class notes.
There is payment plan available on request.
An early booking discounted price of £2400 is available for places paid in full by April 31st prior to programme start in September.
An initial non-refundable deposit of £280 is required to confirm a place on the programme

Small print


Each day will be from 10.00-16.00 with lunch and tea breaks. Accomodation is available in the local area. Details on application.

Students are expected to attend all seminars and in any event 85% attendance is mandatory for qualification.

Programme fees are due in full by July 31st prior to Programme start in September, or by April 31st to qualify for the early booking discount. You will understand that Programme fees are non-refundable in the event of non-attendance, cancellation by the student or failure to graduate. Our guarantee to you is that all seminars will be staffed and taught to the highest standards. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a seminar we will re-arrange with minimum disruption to training.
