Introduction to Baguazhang

Baguazhang, known as Eight Direction or Eight Changes Boxing is based on the philosophy of the I Ching or ‘Book of Changes’ and derives its strength from walking the circle. Whilst walking the circle the practitioner from time to time executes various patterns of ‘change’ in movement and form. Circle walking gives the practitioner the knowledge of the interdependence of stillness and action. Baguazhang also emphasises the wringing of the body through spiralling movements, which develop whole body action, as well as detoxification.
